Actually there was no doctor involved, just my desire for good food and good beer in the middle of another long week at school. I was leaning toward Vietnam Kitchen throughout the day, but as the desire for a beer with my meal became more and more prevalent in my thoughts (i.e., work became more and more tedious), I quickly changed my mind to the NABC. I went over with a friend who is new to the area, so I thought it was only fitting to go to original before trying the new downtown NA location.
Sat on the pub side of the establishment. I started with a B-15, and my friend had a Community Dark. Can't go wrong with either of them. Went with the hand-tossed pizza with green peppers, tomatoes, and spinach. I liked how the toppings and cheese were piled on, but the pizza did not have the super dense feel to it. The crust was crunchy and cooked to a nice golden brown. Finished up dinner with a 1/2 pine of the Cask Ale on tap (a 1/2 pint, I must be getting old!).
I've been making dining appearances in accordance with other people's plans since before the holiday season, so it was nice to get back to a local favorite. Before tip the bill was 26-something, so that's an added bonus. Seriously, 2.5 beers, pizza, and leftovers for that much is a steal. The crowd was strong, which was not at all surprising. Can't give enough props to Roger for the great thing he has going on over there. Only wish I could make it over more often -- and that I had an on-call designated driver.
