Lobster on Valentines

by Mark P » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:45 pm

A friend of mine asked where to get lobster on Valentines because their usual spot, Bonefish, doesn't have it on the menu this year. I suggested Jeff Ruby's and Mitchells at the Summit. Any other suggestions that I can pass along?

Head over to Clearwater Fine Foods and buy some culls, then fix the romantic dinner at home. Can't beat the price and feeding your sweetie lobster gets you bonus points!

Neither of them really a "cook" so I think that's stretching it. However, my wife is going to be traveling to Canada that weekend, so I may be making a trip there to grab stuff for a solo Valentines meal at home.

Ed beat me to it, but if they won't cook the lobsters, still go to Clearwater and get frozen tails. Just brush them with butter, stick em undrer a broiler until they start to turn color, and serve! You can buy all the other stuff pre-made at Kroger, Whole Foods, wherever, spend less, and have a great meal!

Best suggestion of all, Ed! And great lobster is so easy to prepare at home- particularly since we have easy access to great lobsters.

Personally, we do all our holiday dining out, before or after a holiday. The only thing you are guaranteed eating out on Valentines is a long wait, crowds and less stellar food and service than if you went on another day. Restaurants are just too slammed.

Not for me. Sarah doesn't eat seafood, and shrimp/lobster really freak her out for some reason. Its quite ironic really because her family raises shrimp, catfish, tilapia, and spoonbill in Western Kentucky. On the bright side though, if we ever go to a catered plated dinner with seafood on the menu, I get hers! I'm not one to turn down extra ahi.

Ruby's is usually closed on Sunday's. I'm working there tonight so I'll see if they have plans of being open for Valentine's. I would imagine that they would.
