Wineskellar at Corbett's

Sounds like a neat concept for those wanting to visit but want a casual/less expensive option...

Anyone been?

From Courier Journal:
Restaurateur Dean Corbett counts himself fortunate to have three businesses (Equus, Jack's Lounge and Corbett's: An American Place) making it amid tough times. In fact, Jack's has proved nearly recession-proof. Throughout the down economy, the modestly upscale lounge has stayed packed, and that led Corbett to conclude he should duplicate it.

He considered opening another in Louisville, but then thought, “I've got all this space here where I could do the same,” said Corbett, referring to the overflow dining space in the cellar of Corbett's (5050 Norton Healthcare Blvd.).

“Since we started the lounge menu upstairs and started serving on the patio outside last year, I didn't have to look hard to see people wanted a more casual option.”

The result is The Wineskellar at Corbett's, which opened Jan. 7. A series of stone-walled and brick-floored rooms are outfitted with cozy booths and cocktail tables. Flat-screen TVs are coming soon, and the restaurant's bar menu is served there.

“We wanted to create an environment where people could come in and have a relaxed evening, maybe some wine flights and cheese tastings, or even a burger or nachos if they wanted,” Corbett said.

It sounds very attractive, but assuming the article is accurate, it's the familiar bar menu and wine list set up in a downstairs space, so it probably won't offer any surprises or new stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Corbett's is great, and the idea of having a section in it with a mood similar to Jack's ought to appeal to a lot of people.
