Awesome! Huong "Coco" Tran was the original owner of Mimosa and she knows good food and business. I'll never forget the time that she and I (I worked for her at Coco Bakery) went to Hometown Buffet, though, for a warm American meal - her choice (albeit we were in the area prepping for the opening of the Industrial Park Coco Bakery with few other places to choose from). She's good people.

She is excellent people. It would be great to see her get that place up to speed.

Oh, this is a dream come true! We go down to the new loc of Cafe Mimosa but miss being able to make a seven minute walk. More to the point I remember going there when Ms. Tran operated in the early '80s. If it does not have beer or wine it will be only carry out for us, except maybe for lunch. I am flexible but my wife considers the concept of eating supper without wine or at least beer to be the equivalent of having to eat at the childrens table. Vegetarian is fine, she enjoys that once in a while but no wine or beer is a total deal breaker for her. Will not happen. Cajoled her into Zen Garden a couple of times but could only go for carry out after that. She's not been to Zen Tea House but I went for lunch in the summer and it was terrific! I look forward to making this a regular stop for lunch or supper carry out. Or dine in supper if my wife is out of town. I promise to put my money where my mouth is to support anything Coco does in our neighborhood!

This is great news. What with Dragon King's Daughter and now this, I am loving the new Asian options on my neighborhood's section of Bardstown Road. I feel so lucky to be able to walk to all these great places.

I am also glad to see the old Mimosa site ready to be redeveloped. I hate to be picky, but if you reference material from Broken Sidewalk, could you please cite the source or provide a link back to the original article? I work hard to track down these stories and your support would be greatly appreciated!

Branden, welcome to the forum! I'm sorry - it IS our policy to do just what you said - links, or a very brief paraphrase AND a link, to any posts carrying information from other sites. I'm sorry I didn't immediately perceive Annemarie's post as a copy-and-paste from another site, or I would have mentioned it at the time.

By the way, now that you've found your way here, any time you post a report on a building with a restaurant-related connection, feel free to drop by and give us a link ... chances are this will give you a nice little flurry of traffic while tipping us off to the news.

Also, if you'll provide us the link to the Egg Roll/Mimosa article, it would be good to get a live link into this discussion.

Thanks Robin,

I have been reading the forum for quite a while but just recently registered. Great resources and discussions. I'll try and post something when I have another food-related article. Here's the link to the Mimosa renovation story:

I check three websites daily - Hotbytes, Broken Sidewalk, and one for my Wildcats.

Branden, I'm glad you chimed in on that. I was curious what the source of that information was. You have a great website. I love reading about my city's history, and preservation in particular.
