Russian Food

by Jennifer Kavanagh » Sat Jun 16, 2007 1:37 pm

Has anyone been to the little Russian Restaurant close to the Hikes Lane area? I believe it's on the Buechel Bypass. My husband and I are interested in checking it out, but we're not sure on what type of food Russian food is. Any insight would help...Thanks.

I have not been to this restaurant so I can't speak to how it is, but
Russian food can be delicious.
Little buttery buckwheat pancakes (Blini) with sour cream and caviar or smoked salmon.
The national soup seems to be Borscht which can be hearty and filling when made with beef or light and refreshing when amde with no meat. When you float sour cream in it the color rivals any psychodelic poster ever.
There are lots of smoked and salted meats and fish and a lot of stews.
Oh- and Stroganoff.
If you are lucky there will be some game dishes too.
I look forward to what people have to say about this restaurant.

not aware of Russian restaurant in Hikes Point

by Gary Michael » Sun Jun 17, 2007 10:03 pm

There is a Russian grocery in the neighborhood and the Jasmine Bakery around the corner (Bosnian). Only Russian restaurant I know of in Louisville is Gavi's downtown, which only serves a few Russian items.
