Without a doubt, give me Palermo Viejo every time. I grew up on grass fed beef and that's what I want for what I consider true "beef flavor." And the cheese plate and french fries are right up there, too!

Steak and frites at Le Relais. Add a bottle of good red wine and I'm in a blissful state.

Gonna have to give the nod to Del Frisco's. Chateaubriand for two is one of the best secret steak deals in town. Prime steak at a real steakhouse.

I'm a fan of Del Frisco's too. They use only prime graded meat and Chef Giles can tell what the internal temperature of a steak is at from 50 feet away. If I'm spending $25 + on a steak, I want it to be cooked correctly to my desired Medium Rare. Plus, there is something about the decor of the place that I find kinda funky. Even though they remodeled about 3 years a go, It still feels like you walked back into 1972 when you dine there. Service is usually very good and the sides are quite good and not as expensive as other places. The Green Phunque deserves it's own accolades.

Palermo Viejo. Honorable mention to Limestone for making a sirloin, a cut I'm not usually a fan of, melt-in-your-mouth good.

I'll take Palermo, but have never tried Del Frisco. Still, it would have to be a DAMN good steak to be better than Palermo. Pat's Steakhouse....meh. Good, but not my favorite. Ruth Chris is actually quite good. I've never had Jeff Ruby's or Mortons .

My favorite singular steak dish in Louisville is the 'Steak Au Poivre' at Z's. Wow, it's absolutely unreal...

...but that's for special occasions. My 'go to' when I'm craving a great steak is typically Del Frisco's. Just a no-frills, serious steakhouse, imo. Quick, and rarely crowded when we go (typically on an early Sunday evening).

Anything from Palermo.

The Bistec from Seviche with the fried egg on top.

Cant provide an answer for the steakhouse question, but as to how I like it prepared.....rare to very rare and I prefer a filet mignon(for tenderness),hanger steak(for flavor) but when thats not an option I like a porterhouse, its kind of two steaks in one. Also agree Ribeye is great all around. I also agree with Gayle, grass fed beef is by far superior.

edited after more thought.

The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Does anyone know what is going on with Palermos website? It has been down for awhile and I would love to see a menu.

Ruth Chris was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Perhaps it was because I wasn't paying for it! To be honest, I was not impressed with Pats. It made me feel rather claustrophobic and ruined the whole experience for me.
