Am curious if anyone is still paying fuel surcharges ?

Yeah, virtually everyone put them on and never took them off. They reduced them, but I have a feeling they like the extra revenue. Really sucks. As a little guy, what can I do? But if I was a large client, I'd raise a fuss.(bet they'd waive it)....Gas is very cheap right now.

Really, they just want the money. Kind of like CC late fees, bank fees, etc. Except with the fuel surcharge you get screwed every delivery. We're talking an extra couple percent. That adds up!

We are still getting fuel charges on the wholesale side and we are passing them along to our customers, but it doesn't take much fuss from any customer, big or small, for us to drop it. I would say something about it, the worst thing that can happen is they say no.

[quote="Nimbus Couzin"]. As a little guy, what can I do? quote]

It doesn't matter how big or small your account is. You are a customer. That's why it's important to have good relationships with your vendors. Ask your saleman to see if they can do anything about it. Tell them you are thinking about going with another vendor if it's not removed or reduced. If they say they can't, then they obviously don't value your business that much.
I can assure you, there are plenty of other companies out there willing to do what it takes you get your business.

Were still getting hit by fuel surcharges. We have to pass it on. Sometimes you just cant get around it. UPS/Fed Ex are good examples, alot of companies wont offer another method of shipping or cant. If I get "live"material (plants) they can only come Fed Ex as UPS wont deliver plants that need to be kept warm. One other example of being stuck with it, is our fuel surcharge on the potting soil we use. I get my "dirt" custom made in South Carolina and they only deal with one shipping company. They are the only people that will make my formulation so I cant shop around. We had to raise our prices last year for the first time in awhile. My customers understood the reasons and we got very few complaints about the increase.

Its probably better suited for another thread, but I do feel our fuel prices here in the States are artificially low.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Just a FYI. All the liquor wholesalers took their fuel charge off about six months ago. Hope it continues.
