Varanese/Grgich Hills dinner

by Heather Y » Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:43 am

Anyone from the Forum attending the Grgich Hills wine dinner at Varanese tomorrow?

I will be there, come over and say hi. I will be wearing an "oatmeal colored" sweater dress. (Yes, I already have an outfit in mind) Shortish blonde hair. I will be seated with two couples, and a couple of guys are joining us as well.

It looks like it will be an interesting event!

we're going! Grgich was one of the first wineries we visited many years ago on our first visit to Napa/Sonoma. We enjoy their wines.

It was definitely going to be on my schedule, but my wife informed me that she had a hair appointment and that she could not change it. So it looks like that I'll have to just read how good it is going to be. Bummer

Wow. It was a great evening. It took everything I had not to lick the plate of the lobster course. mmm that sauce. Really great hosts ...John and Grgich Hill's David Bos- they were similar in personality and passion. We met some nice people at the table and I got to meet the lovely Heather Y from LHB!
The Cab is to die fior. Overall, it was a great deal for what we got. Plus, there were a couple of us non-lamb and beef eaters who were accomodated without any problem. The vegetarian pasta dish was outstanding. John's team of servers was, as always, top notch.

I concur, Linda it was nice to meet you too!

The paparadelle and lamb dish was stunning!

Varanese did a really nice job, the staff was spot on, the speaker informative, and the food was thoroughly enjoyed.

Loved the Fume Blanc over the Chard, and the Zin over the Cab. All in all was a great event!

They are hosting the same event this evening.
If it is at all possible to get there, I highly recommend it!
