Asiatique

by Sam H » Sun Jan 17, 2010 4:10 pm

I've been on hotbytes before but found the forum while I was searching for Asiatique's butterfish (still don't know what exactly it was). Anyway, I had an amazing experience there so I figured I'd post up about it.

First of all, the service was the best I've ever had anywhere. Everyone was very polite and our waiter, Steve, was great. They even let my girlfriend customize her medley order so that she could try the butterfish.

We both got the medleys, she went with the seafood and I went with the regular.

-My first course was grilled angus beef satay with a mixed greens salad. The meat was incredibly well cooked and super delicious. Her first course was the scallops and we both decided that they were the best we've ever had
-My second course was vietnamese pork+shrimp ‘cha gio’ (kinda like an eggroll) and two goat cheese+crabmeat spring rolls. Oddly her second course was identical to my third
-My third course was delicious triple crusted ahi tuna tataki style, a tuna tar tar dip that I didn't taste and a pacific salmon dip that was pretty tasty. Her third was the crusted ahi tuna and was supposed to have seabass, but they let her sub the butterfish which ended up being incredible.
-My fourth course was slow simmered beef short rib and simmered lamb shank, both of which were outstanding. Hers was a spicy concoction of a bunch of different seafoods
-Fifth course was a mix of five different desserts that were all tasty
We also split three of the Asiaritas and they were delicious

I've always been more of a steakhouse guy and I've never really been high on seafoods, but Asiatique managed to change both of those opinions for me

Thank you very much for the generous compliments on Asiatique. The fresh waloo fish was flown in from Hawaii and other names include butterfish and escolar. It is an excellent fish which is also used by the better sushi bars.

Hi Sam,
I was at Asiatique on Saturday night for Drinks and Apps.
We were the rowdy bunch in the lower level.

I too enjoyed the Cha Gio, and it paired nicely with my Asiarita (s).
Damn, those 'Ritas are addictive!

Anderson was our server/bartender, and did an excellent job in keeping up with the crazies in our group.
(including me)!

Just chiming in with the asiatique love, I never get a chance to really enjoy the menu, because my favorites always call to me and I can't get away from them. The five spice shrimp salad is great, while the shrimp are very good, the actual salad + dressing were out of this world (coming from a guy who has a great disdain for all things leafy and green). The rib app I suspect I could eat every day for a year and still love them. So a great thanks to Chef Looi for delicious food and to his amazing staff (Jessica in particular is always a joy to have as our server)
