Tokyo Japanese Restaurant - Lime Kiln Road.

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this restaurant. It isn't to far away from where we live, but every time I drive by seems the parking lot is empty. Any feedback? Good, bad, indifferent?
Thanks!

Last two times I was there over 3/4 of the tables were full. They do a strong take out business. Good, but not spectacular sushi, IMO.

I've had a couple of very good meals there although I haven't visited for a while now. It's just too far out of the way. He was very good about getting in some exotic fish for tasting. I have heard that his is the only Japanese restaurant that is actually run by someone who is Japanese - the others are Korean. That's just heresay though and I don't know how acurate it is.

It's certainly true that many of the local Japanese restaurants have Korean sushi chefs, including Raw and Caviar, Osaka, Bendoya, and I'm fairly sure Sakura Blue and Sapporo. Not that it matters much - the proof of the sushi is in the eating. Maido, although it's not a sushi bar, definitely has a Japanese cook. And as I recall, the original sushi chef at Kobe in Jeffersonville (who came there from Tokyo on Lime Kiln, by the way) was Japanese. I have no idea whether he's still there or has moved on, though.

My husband and I have gone there a few times. We have had sushi and some of their ramen noodle soups and everything was always very good. The couple that run the place were very nice and thoughtful to our children who were dining with us.

Well, the atmosphere isn't the greatest, but I think the food itself is great. Some of the best ginger salad dressing in town -- so good I've bought a container to take home, which says a lot since that means toting it in a cooler 2 1/2 hours from Louisville. It does look like they do great business with carry-out. It would also be a good place to take kids, since it's more of a family restaurant than most other sushi places.
