Meridian Cafe and Volare made our day better

by Brad Keeton » Sun Jan 10, 2010 4:04 pm

My wife and I recently bought our first home, and spent ALL day yesterday running around getting everything we needed for the house, big and small, from a refrigerator down to knobs for the cabinets. It was a long, expensive, and stressful day, only made worse by the frigid temperatures, bad traffic, and slushy roads (and by dropping by our new house in the morning to find a burst water pipe that was spewing water everywhere in the garage), but our two meals about town really calmed us and turned what could have been a headache of a day into something rather enjoyable.

Around lunchtime we found ourselves in St. Matthews, and so dropped into Meridian for a late lunch. An excellent grilled cheese (bacon AND avocado - oh my), grains salad, and large French press of good coffee later, we were re-energized to continue our Old School day of Home Depots and Bed Bath and Beyonds.

Around dinner time we found ourselves in the Frankfort Avenue area, and dropped into Volare for some pasta and 1/2 price wine. The food was great, the wine solid, and the service excellent. We left full and ready to put our heads on our pillows.

In short, it's great being able to find excellent places for any meal in just about any part of town. Just look up, and you'll find a great, local place to refill and rejuvenate.

Brad,
Congrats on the new house, but sorry you had so much trouble.

Glad that your time at Meridian was an enjoyable one, and thanks for the mention.

Plus, you stopped at one of my favorites for dinner-Volare. Chefs Josh and Jeremiah do a great job!

Whoa ! Dude...welcome to the wonderful world of home ownership. Who's the lucky bank ? BTW, That huge sucking sound you hear is the death throes of your wallet.

Congrats on your move...let me know if you want to borrow any tools, I've got some nail guns that will knock your socks off. :P

Ha - yes, it's a bit overwhelming, but exciting. Thanks for the offer of tools to borrow - I might take you up on it sometime. There are advantages to renting - no tools required.
