Trying to locate a beer...

by Michelle R. » Tue Jan 05, 2010 12:02 pm

Robin, if this is in the wrong spot, please feel free to move it...

My husband is from Wyoming, and in college, he drank Odell's 90 Shilling. We have looked everywhere in Louisville, but can't seem to locate it. If any of you beer drinkers have any suggestions, or know where I can find some, I'd be grateful.

Missouri is the closest state they distribute, but you can buy it online.

The closest place to get some is in Missouri. That's not too far of a drive depending on how bad he wants it :)

I will be driving back through MO. in another week or so...if you can locate some in a town along I-44, I'll be happy to try and pick some up for you.

Steve, right off I-44 at the Jefferson Avenue exit in St Louis is a huge liquor store called Randall's. If O'dell's is available in StL, which I believe it is, this would be a perfect place for you to stop. Happy hunting...

Steve, let me check with him and see just how badly he wants it. Either way, I appreciate your kind offer!

i recommend buying him a starter homebrew kit and the new complete joy of homebrewing... give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will never go hungry again. homebrewing is a great way to replicate (sort of) some of the great brews that arent available in our area. there are also some great resources as far as homebrew clubs and retail spaces that make it easy to get going.

but if putting in the work isnt really his cup of tea... there are some awesome local breweries that make some beers similar to the 90 shilling, its just a matter of catching it when its around. cheers!

I know alot of people who are serious about beer. (I gave my husband beer for Xmas. Beer making kit for his bday.)
Would a 'where can you get a certain beer' thread be alright?
New forum?
The selection in the Louisville area is growing. Growler fillup availability?
Restaurants and groceries plus spirit stores. So many choices.
Thanks

It's okay to talk about beer right here in the main forum, Ellen! You could argue that 'beer is food," or you could argue that we're really all about good things to eat AND drink around here. :)

Steve, I checked with the husband, and he's apparently not hurtin' for 90 Shilling that badly, he asked me to pass along his gratitude for your kind offer, though.

Wore my 'beer is food' tshirt to the Indy beer fest last year. Could have sold a bunch for the BBC. So many people stopped me and commented on the shirt.
