The only sushi I can think of in Southern Indiana (without looking it up, in a bit of a hurry here) is Kobe, in the short shopping strip just off the northern end of the Clark Bridge in Clarksville. It's not too much of a haul from New Albany. If there are other sushi joints on the Sunny Side, I hope someone will speak up.

Well, I thought about replying earlier, but it's not in New Albany, so since Robin mentions the J-ville Kobe, I'll chime in about Kansai on Veteran's Pkwy (the exit near the 65 / 265 junction). They recently expanded their dining space and it's beautiful, I think. They say it's the largest Japanese Steakhouse in the region... and the sushi chef works at both Kobe and Kansai - reeealy nice guy, he can talk you up, real personable - tell him I said "Hi" if you go in! He told me recently I was "very smart" - NO better compliment. They keep fresh uni in house, too (*blurgle*), attesting to the perishability of it. Kansai has a second location in E-town, but I feel they're far from chain status, just a warm personal connection to the team. I love the owners at Kansai, and I hear they're opening 2 new places on Veteran's Pkwy (burger joint and pizza place, I think I recall). I'd give 'em my business any day of the week and weekly if they were closer to me.

I'm not 100% sure that either serve sushi, but there is a good chance they do.

Tomo on Charlestown Road in New Albany serves sushi. It's a really good place and people who like sushi like it a lot.

You and Justin both mention Tomo, John, and it was off my radar completely! I'll have to check it out soon! (Maybe meet you for lunch over there one day if you're free?)

Jackie makes a good point about Kansai, too: Although it's in Clarksville, not New Albany, it's definitely one of the Sunny Side's bright spots for sushi.
