Maggie's, Jeffersontown - Closed?

by David Sanders » Mon Dec 21, 2009 7:54 pm

Wife and I stopped by for lunch today. The door was locked but a woman came to the door and told us that last night was, well, their last night. Wish this one had made it. Location as much as anything did not help: not on a corner; not at a stop sign or light; in the curve of the road (Taylorsville Road); in a non-descriptive strip center without any other "go-to" establishment; not in the center of town that at least had the activities to attract more customers (currently has El Napol, Johnny V's Pizza with Chubby Ray's Pizza & Bruce's BBQ a block or so away); at least my "location" reasons for not making it. Won't specifically criticize the food, but it really did not distinguish itself enough for us to say "let's go to Maggie's tonight". We drove past it constantly on the way to Frankfort Avenue and other locals throughout Louisville. Still, sorry to see it go, and for its employees, surely not a good time of the year.

I too am sad to see this one go. Such a nice cozy place with good food and great people. Hope everyone lands on their feet.

I stopped by Maggie's today and there was a note on the door that said they would be closed 12-20 to
1-15-10????? Wonder what that's all about? :shock:

A little more detail on the first post - A woman answered the locked door (at approximately 12:15) and said that "last night was our last night" and that they were closed. She did not give any other explanation but did say that she had turned away numerous potential customers for lunch that day. My wife said "sorry to hear that", and then the employee(?) turned and went back inside. There were no comments about "closed for the holidays" or "closed for an extended vacation" but who knows??? Again, wish them well and continued(?) success.

For what it's worth, I was talking to Pauline right before all this and she didn't mention to me that they were going to close, so hopefully this is all just a misunderstanding. Maybe we can add a question mark to the title of this thread?

Since a favorite topic on the forum seems to be who is closed and who won't make it. I see "patronize this place so they won't close..." a lot, maybe we need a website like this for local restaurants;

I'm hearing it will reopen shortly, under new ownership.

There were some people inside working Wednesday. I have no idea what is going on with the place.

I saw a real estate sign ; not sure if it was for that building or the Kitchen Supply store that was located next to it.

They are scheduled to re-open next weekend....they have brought in some new ideas. I believe this second run, will be very beneficial for them.
