anniversary dinner for parents

by John Hagan » Mon Dec 21, 2009 10:20 am

I could use a couple of suggestions for an anniversary dinner for my Mom and Dad. They prefer fairly simple "continental" cuisine. My father has a severe aversion to garlic and my mother dislikes spicy food. I have sent them to Corbetts,Equus and have enjoyed themselves very much at each. Last year we sent them to Le Relais and they enjoyed that as well. My Mom had mentioned the place on top of the Galthouse that spins around but I dont know much about it. I assume since its rarely mentioned here, its more for the view than the food,am I correct? I was thinking about 610 Magnolia or The Oakroom. Any thoughts on these or others.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

I would suggest Limestone.

My first thought as well. My wife and I went there for our anniversary. we were greeted with rose petals on the table and a complimentary glass of bubbly ... a nice added touch for a special evening.

Limestone is an excellent choice. I also would recommend 211 Clover Lane.

The restaurant on top of the Galt House is Rivue and many HBers, myself included, seem to like it. Search here for "Rivue"
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Yep. I'm one of them.

We just went there for an impromptu post-office-party-after-party, and they took very good care of all 30 of us.

The food I've had has been very good, the space is great, and the prices (especially on drinks) are competitive. I think it's too oft-overlooked.
