Anyone been to this Middle Eastern cafe on Taylor? A friend told me the food was really good and it's now on our short list of places to try.

Where on Taylor? I'm very interested ... and curious whether it's Palestinian or Israeli cuisine.

It's just south of the Waterson on Taylor Blvd, next to the Teamster Local Union 89 Hall.

We've been 3 times already; the last was about a month ago with a group of 12 for supper. We all ordered something different, along with appetizers, and we very pleased that we were all served within an hour--especially considering there was only 1 cook !! And, he gave us all complimentary bakalva at the end :D

The best things were the grilled kabob-style veggies, the huge servings of the Jerusalem Special, and the hummus.

There is a copy of the menu on Urbanspoon.com.

Please, everyone try this nice place and give him some support to stay open !

Yeah just South of the Watterson. I also heard that the service was a bit slow because of the small staff and kitchen - however I was told it was very "authentic". The friend that told me this is not a foodie so the details are sketchy.

We have been there as well. Everything is wonderful! I believe the owner used to be at Grape Leaf, but not sure. Service as been fine, but not busy when we have been there. The prices are more than fair. Give it a try. We likey!!

had supper there last nite --really fine effort !

they had 4 specials (I remember baked chicken, grilled lamb chops, grilled veg entree, and something else) --I had the lamb chops; perfectly prepared, a little thin but still moist--4 of them, with a huge saffron rice side, grilled tomatoes and a spoon of arabic salad and tabouli, all for $10.95 !!

they didn't have any other customer from 5:30-6:30 :( , but we saw several cars there around 8:30, so we're hoping they're doing ok with carry-outs
