Will,
to be quite honest, I have often wanted to come out to your place..., but I would also prefer a few drinks with dinner... if you have some kind of taxi service, or city scoot available that would be great.
For some reason I equate Westport General Store with longer destination driving distance, and have not made it out there for that reason. Part of my dilemma with Lou. and transportation is the fact that there is no "limo service" here in town. I am not talking about stretch limos. I am talkin about black Lincoln Continental (non stretch) flat rate service that anyone can employ for a trip, and go and enjoy knowing that they are secure in a ride home without spending hundreds of dollars for a limo. In NYC, it is the norm, and I would love to see it implemented here in the ville. Any buyers in, PM me and we can talk.

I love you all , and want to party at your place but cannot drive there to do so.!

Thanks, Will! A generous offer, and one more good reason to make that short drive out to Westport!

Robin,
Thanks for thanking Will. My bad, Will that is a generous offer, and I should have prefaced my statement with a Thank you! Step 1. open mouth
Step 2. insert foot.

Heather, you spoke honestly and candidly and without harsh or incivil tone. As for the content of your remarks, I think a fairly priced "luxury Scoot" service could be cool, and maybe as the economy improves someone will implement it and make a bunch of bucks!

That said, personally I don't share your feeling about the drive out to Westport. For us it's easy - a short jump from Frankfort over to Brownsboro and straight out 42 to the giant radio tower - I actually prefer this to I-71 - and then just a short drive down a winding but pretty country road to Will's. I've timed it many times, and depending on traffic, it never takes us more than 25 to 30 minutes (although in fairness, I probably wouldn't try it right at rush hour).

As for boozing it up, I personally do not feel uncomfortable about driving when I've had a moderate amount of wine with a good dinner in a relaxing setting, and as a wine writer, I've frequently played around with mini-Breathalyzers to check my own limits after this kind of tasting. For me, it's a no-brainer. As long as we're talking about wine with dinner or a cocktail before, I'm very comfortable driving home from Will's, and Mary is comfortable about riding with me. It might be interesting to raise this as a forum discussion, but probably it's better to start a new one rather than taking over Will's topic. :)

Thanks Robin for stating the driving time to Westport. I can get to the heart of Frankfort ave. in about 25-30 min. The drive seems long the first time out and I must say please do not use GPS, MapQuest, or Google maps. they have us in the wrong place.

We have been working for 6 years to soften the distance issue with our location. Hope to see some forum folks soon.

It's about the same for us from the heart of the Highlands, and its a pretty drive to boot.

Will, just an FYI, you can "edit" your location on Google Maps. If you don't have a Google account, you have to set a free account up, but once you do that you search for your location, and then can "drag" the arrow to the correct spot. If you move it more than 100 yards or something like that, the change isn't immediate, assumedly so they can check your work. I'm not sure if you can do the same with MapQuest.

Also, our GPS got us there fine the first time we went, so some programs appear to work well.
