211 Clover Lane

I have to say, I'm hesitant to post a review of 211 because I feel like I've stumbled on a secret place and I don't want anyone else to know! But, in all fairness to the chef and staff, I want to say, go to this place NOW.

We had a wonderful meal. The menu changes daily and I have no idea what stays and what goes, but our server did say the cider-braised rabbit was new. I also took her advice and ordered the scallops with risotto, arugula and other goodies served in the most delicious sauce. I even said yes to the extra bread for sopping. I started with a lovely bibb salad, sherry vinaigrette, shaved red onion and toasted walnuts (toast with Camembert on the side). Fantastic!

My friend had the roasted pork tenderloin with polenta and seared escarole. She raved. We split the creme caramel for dessert and a bottle of Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir with dinner.

Fantastic! We had excellent service and the decor is casual white wood with light oak floors. They had a good crowd and I would go back tonight if I could.

Oh, dinner for two with 20% tip and bottle of wine was $126.

211 Clover Lane doesn't get nearly the recognition it deserves! We ate there a year or so ago and can't wait to get back.

We need to go as well.....just doesn't stay on the radar real well. Out of sight - out of mind I guess.

I sent one of my students there to work last semester. He loves it, is getting full-time hours, and says they're a joy to work for.

What is the atmosphere like there? Do they have a bar area? Could I swing in for a couple drinks and apps?

They do have a bar and apps on the menu - so I say why not!

It is an oft-overlooked gem, and very special to us. My wife and I had our first date there during the July 2004 windstorm. The restaurant lost power just after our salads arrived, and we spent the next 2 hours in the basement drinking wine (comped by the restaurant, if I remember correctly) with two other couples that had been stranded.

After the storm slowed, we returned to the dining room, but there was no power. We ate our entree (cold by this time!) by candelight, and then navigated Lexington Road back to the Highlands.

We make it a point to try to get back there in July every year.

If I was to have to pick a favorite restaurant in the city, this would be that place. They do it right, from the atmoshphere, to the constantly evolving menu, to the gracious hospitality, to the well-thought out winelist... what's not to love about this institution?

Maybe an edgy cocktail list?

I used to deliver produce there and loved going into their kitchen. It reminded me of a kitchen in an old country house rather than the fluorescent light stainless steel glow of a normal kitchen. The ex and I used to go there for Sunday brunch and it was always fantastic. I need to make a return visit. Good to hear the consistency is still at a high level.
