Tubby's Pizza - Jeffersonville

by Kurt R. » Mon Dec 14, 2009 5:57 pm

I went to Tubby's for lunch today and it did not let me down. They have recently added both Greek Pizza and Margherita Pizza as specials in answer to a post on Clark County Chatter with suggestions for gourmet pizza.

I had a 7" Greek Pizza and it was great..... fresh dough, garlic olive oil, fresh spinach topped with grilled marinated chicken, black olives and feta cheese. I had a chance to visit with Steve the owner and he said that people have been very receptive to the new pizzas. He has added goat cheese as an offering!

If it has been a while since you have been there (or haven't been there), they have greatly expanded their beer offerings with the consultation of Todd Antz from the Keg Liquors (Forumite). The latest addition is Fat Tire, with I like although Todd says it is baby beer. I didn't have any beer at lunch :( as I had to get back to work.

I have always liked (Steve's) Tubby's pizza, the cheese has a bite to it, he is heavy handed with the cheese which appeals to me and my kids, and more importantly he makes his own sausage. thought I should give him a shout out. I promised to try his chicken wings the next time I am in, but a salad and pizza was more than enough for lunch.

They've got a pizza over there with sauerkraut that is awesome. I love it. I'll second props to Uncle Tubby's.

YESSSSSS. Always my delivery option in Jeff. I havent actually dined in a bit. I think I was sadly the only person eating the whole wheat crust and I dont think he's serving it anymore. I appreciate the effort though.

Steve cooked up a batch of boneless chicken wings for us last week to sample, and they were excellent. Nice amount of sauce, cooked perfectly, so that they were still very juicy, and the mild had just enough heat to make me happy (I'm a wimp when it comes to hot stuff) and he put in a side of the hot sauce for one of the ladies that work with me, and she loved it. I look forward to trying the bone-in wings, but I think we have a place to get great wings on the Sunny-side now.

The pizza that I have had there is great too. Very generous on the toppings and cheese and a good value too. I know you can get a good beer or two there as well  Side note on the Fat Tire.... its an easy to drink beer, and it beat the heck out of a Bud/Miller/Coors!

Its an easy place to get to from Louisville, right on 10th Street in Jeffersonville in the Quadrangle, which is about 3-4 minutes off the bridge.

Now that Tubby himself is blessedly out of the picture, the odds have immeasurably improved.

Thanks for the kind words we have tried to take input from our customers and improve the best we can, as far as the brewpub goes that's something totally different from us, that is Glenn Muncys vision for the old Tubby's location. Mr. Muncy has no involvement with us.

Roger don't be surprised if you see Mr. Muncy get his brewpub up and running as I have heard through the grapevine that the city of Jeff has offered to loan him the money to get it started.

Nothing surprises me, but given that he's been talking about it since 1994 and not ever doing it, I'll refrain from holding my breath. And, just so there's no misunderstandings in this discussion, I'll feely admit that Glenn's one of the few people in the world I actively dislike. I'd consider (no promises) serving Dick Cheney a beer before Tubby.

Roger I hope your dislike for Glenn has no bearing on the current Tubby's pizza as we only use the name Tubby's and share none of the same ideas. I look forward to adding one of your beers to our list in the near future.

Steve, I am excited to hear of your new pizza offerings. We live in Jeff and sometimes just don't feel like traveling far for a good meal. Unfortunately there are not a lot of good options in Jeff. It has been some time since we have dined at Tubby's but we will surely try again soon. Have you discontinued the whole wheat crust as suggested earlier in this thread?
