High quality Vegan meals?

by Nimbus Couzin » Tue Dec 08, 2009 3:08 am

Hey there ya'll,

Favor to ask. Anyone of you proprietors willing to hook me and a friend up for a couple good vegan dinners in the ten dollar range? Sort of a special occasion, but I can't spend more. It'd probably be on Weds or Sun.

If I can't find anything special, I was thinking Dakshin. But hoping someone here might have an idea.

Thanks kindly!

please pm me....thanks again..

You should probably know this, but wouldn't Ramsis work for you. If you split a meal, (the servings are big enough) drink water and don't tip, you may find something there for two people in the ten dollar price range (Geez!).

I'm thinking Nimbus meant $10 each. Zen Garden would also work, but you'll need to order wisely. More $ and the Zen Tea house would be FABulous. And Ramsi's is a great suggestion.

You're right, you're right. Sorry, had a blonde moment there, was thinking along the lines of dairy, and totally forgot about the meat aspect!! Anyway, anyone who doesn't eat bacon doesn't know what they're missing.

Yeah, I should have said $10 EACH.

Thanks for the tidbits....and no, the bacon definitely is a no no for vegans. I haven't eaten meat of any sort since Japan in 1994.

Interesting point...is eating Japan considered eating animal or vegetable?

Nimbus, I wish I could give you the goods on some place you don't already know of, but for vegan meals, I would think you know better than anybody who's serving them. That said, you should know that if you go to any respectable restaurant and look at the menu, you can construct your own dish, not because you're a better chef than they, but because you have dietary exceptions applicable to a fraction of a percent of their clientele. They can't put something on a menu that one person out a thousand will order. I've worked in 1000 local places (tehe) and NONE of them would hestitate to do everything to accomodate you. They ALL have vegetarian items and many additional vegan friendly ingredients on hand. All chefs want to be challenged and based upon what I gather about you, you're not picky. Just go wherever you want and make it happen! I swear, no BS, they'll appreciate it. The food awaits you, and needs to get eaten. Also, I recommend North End Cafe in case you hadn't thought of them. Lot's of locally sourced produce and ecologically sound concepts.

Whether it's a moral choice or a health choice, veganism is just crazy to me. I can't imagine life without butter and bacon, or any pork product for that matter.
