Winds are coming back

by Alan H » Mon Dec 07, 2009 12:40 pm

Just so everyone is aware,National Weather Service is predicting 20 to 25 m.p.h. gusts Tuesday then Wednesday up to 35 m.p.h.. Over an inch of rain is possible.
X-mas decorations might want to be looked at, also the obvious battery backup pumps and generators
Pray that this blows over peacefully !

This is gusty, but take note that the predicted winds are NOTHING like Hurricane Ike, which had sustained winds between 50 and 60 and many gusts over 80, which made it technically "hurricane force" although it had technically fallen to something like "tropical depression" status when it got here. Looked like a (dry) hurricane to me, though!

I'm more concerned that we've been having so many of these very heavy rainstorms with significant gusts all summer and now and then during the fall. If this pattern continues when it's cold enough to fall as snow or <shudder> ice, we're going to be in REAL trouble. :(

Instead of looking like Scrooge because I haven't put up the outside decorations yet, I may end up looking like Nostrodamas :D

Well at least the big tree that was looming over my house is gone as of a couple weeks ago, so that's one less thing to worry about.
