two more down

I was at the McMahon Plaza Kroger just before Thanksgiving and noticed the lights weren't on at Bruce's Smokehouse. Pulled around front and saw a "For Lease" sign in the window along with a big neon green sticker from Coca-Cola asking someone to contact them so they can get their equipment back. Wasn't this the same Bruce who was involved with Fire Fresh Barbecue? I think I remember hearing something about it, but not sure.

I also noticed that the Quizno's at McMahon Plaza has closed, but I don't think we'll run out of less than mediocre sandwich chains anytime soon.

I'm not sure why, lease expiration or just wanted to move to another, better(?) site . . . but Bruce's Smokehouse is now located at the corner of Watterson Trail and Billtown Road in Jeffersontown. There have been several restaurants in succession at this site, starting with an English style pub, a couple of other establishments whose name and styles that I can't remember at the moment, and now Bruce's. Outdoor dining (in better weather) and inside, a converted house. Only the two downstairs rooms are being used at this time. They moved all the memorabilia, signage, etc. from the Breckinridge Lane site to here. Lot's of sports pictures, posters, etc. UofL, UK, pro sports. Good BBQ, hope this one makes it.

That Quiznos location has been closed for at least 6 months.
