Apples & Oranges

by Jenny H » Thu Nov 26, 2009 5:44 pm

I am putting together some gift bags for patients at a group home in town for a Christmas outreach project. We are wanting to put apples and oranges in the bags. Does anyone know where would be the best/cheapest place to get those? We are wanting 175 of each. Thanks!

Just a thought- you might get in touch with Creation Gardens and see if they do any community giving. I always find they have good prices on produce (if you end up buying) although you will need to ask what the prices are since they don't post prices.

Gary, I'm right there with you. There was a post just yesterday from one of our foodie buddies that he's gone to CG as their marketing guru....his name escapes me at the moment, however, the string should be just down the list.

You might try calling Amazing Grace. They are very generous with donations to good causes. Ask to speak with Paul, he is the owner.

Good luck!

I'd also try Rainbow Blossom (ask for Summer, or a manager), and maybe even Whole Foods (sorry don't know a contact).

You also might try Garden Gate at Breck and Bardstown Road....They are a spin off of ex-Paul's people and locally owned. Pretty nice people.

You could go out to the produce terminal off Bishop Ln. It doesn't get much cheaper than that. Two cases of each shouldn't cost more than $80 or $90 bucks anyway.

I second what Dan said. If I remember correct Hortons always had good apples.
Also, I see that was Dans 1000th post. Does he get a t-shirt or something? :D
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.
