Secrets of Louisville Chefs

by Steve Shade » Wed Nov 25, 2009 3:23 pm

Sandy and I went to the taping of two new shows couple of weeks ago. Chef Dean Corbett (aka Chef Deano) was not the host. On asking a couple of the participants we were told that Dean may not return because of time restraints of two restaurants and family. We received an email from Dean yesterday confirming that it was permanent. Tim Laird was the host and did a good job. Since he has also been doing Secrets of Bluegrass Chefs recently, I think he will be the future host. Dean will definitely be missed.

Sadly we never made it to a taping of L'ville Chefs...I will sure miss not seeing Chef Deano on the Telly. Hopefully the new host will be able to continue the success of the program.

We will miss Dean. When I taped the show with him, he was so helpful and asked all the right questions when the guest chef is floundering. I like TIm, great personality and all, but he never seems to know much about the dish or dishes being presented. We will miss Dean and wish him luck in all. We were the best chef team ever. Never a harsh word, and we both worked our asses off to make Equus what it is today. As a owner now, I realize even how much harder he had to work to make it all come together. Deano rocks. Bill

Much love to Dean and his house!

Yet, for me, Tim Laird is our Emeril. He may not be proposing the most avant-garde stuff on TV, but he is inspiring a whole demographic to love what we do. This frees us up, creatively, to take some chances and to become the juggernaut Louisville can be.

This is all I have and I feel it to be truth...

Has far as demographics go, I believe the show was number one or two in the local market while Dean was hosting. I hope TIm equals that. The show is a blast no matter and does open up the market to the diversity of our fair town fine chefs. My 12 year daughter did all the prep while I taped the show along with the then Brown Hotels new chef, who brought two sous chefs with him, running a little late, and tried to take over the small prep kitchen. My daughter held her ground and mantained control over the grill which we both needed to use.... it was a hoot, and all the Sullivan Chefs were in stitches over this little girl showing up the whites and their sharp knives. We got all our food out in time for the audience tasting and you know who was late, late, late. A proud daddy moment to remember.

Ok, Susanne, when is this little darling going to open HER venue? At 12, standing her ground in a strange prep kitchen.....all I can say is Damned impressive!
