What was the name of the ww cousins rival on Hurstbourne?

by Tony D. » Wed Jun 06, 2007 2:33 am

Sorry to be chasing trivia, but we cannot come up with the name of the hamburger joint that used to be in the Longhorn's Steakhouse building off Hurstbourne Parkway. I don't know if it was a national chain, but they did the same thing as W.W. Cousins, hung meat behind glass and baked buns on premises. Little help?

I don't think so ... I don't believe Fuddrucker's has ever had a property in Louisville, although as I understand it, the original W.W. Cousin's was based on the Fuddrucker's model and started by two guys who had formerly worked for the chain.

I remember the steakhouse on Hurstbourne but am blanking on the name. I hope someone will remember!

As you may know, by the way, Cousin's no longer hangs the beef for public inspection. I think about as many people were grossed out by it as liked it.

I don't remember anything being where Longhorn is presently located on Hurstborne. If I remember correctly that whole section where they are now located was buildt new about 5 or 6 years ago. Did there use to be a different Longhorn on Hurstborne?

I thought Flakey Jake's was on Bardstown Rd at Hurstbourne, I think the building became a Bojangles afterward?

Actually, the building is where Lone Star is located, my mistake. Flakey Jakes definitely does not ring a bell.

It was Flakey Jakes that was located where Lone Star currently is on Hurstbourne. We used to go there after every little league game.

It was a "make your own burger" place. The first in town if I recall correctly, as it predated WW Cousins by several years.

To my knowledge, we've never had a Fudruckers in The Ville.

We are sure it was Flakey Jake's. We lived off Hurstborne in the mid 80s and frequented it. Also, my husband was a shareholder when the company bellied up so one doesn't tend to forget these things!!!
