Pumpkin Pie Creme Brulee at Riverbend Winery

by Paul Mick » Sun Nov 22, 2009 5:41 pm

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but last week I had a positively amazing creme brulee at Riverbend Winery downtown. Now I really enjoy pumpkin pie in the first place, but combining the same spicy flavors with creme brulee was pure genius.

Additionally, the food in general was quite good. My fiancee had their Riverbend Burger, and it was very juicy with a nice charbroil flavor to it. I had the chicken pesto and feta cheese sandwich, which was packed full of chicken, mushrooms, cheese, roasted red peppers, and tomatoes. Both were excellent.

As for their wine, it does tend toward the sweet in general, but I was actually really impressed with their pomegranate wine. Now I'm normally a fan of very dry wines, and because of that extremely skeptical of fruit wines (read: Kool Aid) with their high residual sugar content, but this was was actually fairly well balanced. Since I love pomegranates I figured I had to try it, and it was definitely worth it.

I recommend checking it out next time you're downtown for a play or other performance.
