There is Mariahs, it has good bread pudding. There is a decent Indian place there. Can't remember the name. There is a few Mexican places there that arent bad. There are a few things that arent chains. Its a small town, drive around and you will find some stuff. If you like chicken go to Zaxby's that seems to be all they serve.
Im not a food"ie", I am a food"er".

Head downtown to the square (close to where Mariah's is) and there are several local places there. Rafferty's was born in Bowling Green - it's not too bad and is located on Scottsville Road across from the airport.

There are many great restaurants in Bowling Green. Mariah's is a classic and 440 Main is a hopping Bistro in one of the lovely old buildings in the Square (my favorite  ), Montana Grille is the father of Raffertys and definitely that open lodge in the Mountains feel, Toots is a great place for wings and I have heard that the Cambridge Market and Cafe is a great place to dine though I have not been there myself.
Hope this helps a little.

From the link I take it you work at 440 and, if so, you are certainly closer to the BG scene than I am (having moved from BG years ago). However, in college in the early 80s I played a lot of gigs at Rafferty's (and I grew up in BG) and I don't even remember Montana Grille. Was it from the early 70s before I was out socializing? Just trying to figure out where it is in the food chain (so to speak).

No, I don't work for 440 Main, I frequented the restaurant alot when I was in sales and I have family who live in Bowling Green (You probably know them). I should not have gone so far as to say Montana Grille was the father of Raffertys but they are part of the same corporation and you can see many similarities. I am pretty sure it is the parent of the idea of Raffertys but didn't surface until after Raffertys was launched. Its more of an "upscale version". Its located on Scottsville Road right next to headquarters.

Go Toppers! :D

Got it, Allison - thanks for the clarification. There is so much on Scottsville Road it's hard to see it all when you're trying to get from I-65 to campus or downtown!

Go, Tops, indeed! (I'm still on WKU's advisory board, so I have to have some school spirit...)

I remember trips to a place called Mary's Cafeteria. Mary was a fine Lady rest her sole. The cafeteria is long gone. Can't think of the address of where the place was.

Some of the best BBQ Chicken in the world was rendered at the old Greenwood Texaco. They made it into a Super America I think.
The guy moved across 65 into a ham house, it changed and was gone in the wind in less than a year. A shame.
Every days a holiday and every meals a feast !

Wasn't Mary's just off the By-Pass, close to where the old Holiday Inn is? I remember my brothers talking about Mary's in the late 70s - bet she's been gone a long time now.

How about white water in West Virginia? I had a blast and it was nice hanging with the staff outside of work. We'll have to do some type of trip each year. Take care and be safe on your way home.

Reminds me of my dating days. We went to Murray's quite a bit -- and lived to tell the tale!!

Anthony - I am a hige empanada fan and know that you have some on your menu. I prefer the baked rather than fried pies - might I ask how yours are prepared?

Thanks
