Wonderful experience at J Harrods

by Fanny Timmer » Tue Nov 17, 2009 7:39 pm

Saturday we held our year end banquet and award ceremony at J Harrod's. Michael Francis and staff were wonderful to work with, the buffet was great, and everyone was very pleased. We had 37 in attendance and the private room was plenty large enough to hold several more. If folks are looking for a venue, I recommend J Harrod's.

I've ALWAYS had a good experience with J. Harrods. Their boneless chicken is downright crack addictive.

There was a time that I HAD to have their prime rib or salmon once a week. Alas.....kids take too much of my money now.

I once worked for the ill fated J. Harrod's in St. Matthews. Michael Francis is a class act, and runs a good operation. If I was out that way more often I would visit more. Yes the boneless chicken is crackalicious!

I did work for Mike, even before he opened J Harrods. He has a great place for private parties and also for his restaurant. Service is always excellent. Food, though not particularity innovative is always well done. I never understood why the St Matthews location did not do well.

A number of years ago, one of his customers booked a party for UPS and AIRBUS (European airplane builder) at the restaurant. They had recently signed a contract for UPS to buy planes. He asked as would any caterer about the cost and was told they didn't care about the cost. Plenty of good servers and top of the line food is all they wanted. Airbus sent party favors for everyone. Glass airplanes, obviously worth a few hundred dollars apiece.

Of course a profit was made, but I think I can guarantee that it was reasonable.

BTW .. J Harrods has a buffet on Thanksgiving.

Glad to hear good things about J Harrods. It sems over the years they were really slipping, but it seems they have turned over a new leaf. Good luck and hope they continue good success!!!!

I'm glad to see this. J Harrods is underappreciated.
