Dunkin’ Donuts bringing 15 stores to Louisville

by JustinHammond » Thu Nov 12, 2009 1:56 pm

http://louisville.bizjournals.com/louis ... ily40.html

Restaurant developer Pace Development LLC has reached an agreement with Dunkin’ Brands Inc. to develop 15 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Louisville.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

In a news release, Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin’ Brands said the typical franchisee has a minimum net worth of $500,000 and liquid assets of at least $250,000. Pace also operates a chain of Subway sandwich shops.

Under the agreement, Paducah, Ky.-based Pace is expected to open two of the restaurants by 2011, and the rest by 2016.

Business First reported in April that Dunkin’ Brands was seeking franchisees for the Louisville and Evansville, Ind., markets. The company said Thursday that the Pace agreement closes the door on the Louisville market, but the company continues to search for a franchisee in the Evansville market.

According to the company’s Web site, www.dunkindonuts.com, there currently are 33 Dunkin’ Donuts locations in the Louisville area.

Hmmmmm...Sounds like they're taking the same approach as Krispy Creme did a couple of years back...and it bankrupted them.

I can't wait. Going to DD is one of my rituals when we visit the in-laws in Rochester. They have fairly attentive employees and pretty darn good cheap coffee. Sometimes I *have* to get coffee at Thornton's and even though it says Dunkin Donuts, it is NOT the same as what the serve in the stores (in fact the DD coffee at Thornton's is probably some of the worst crap I've ever tasted).

I don't know if anyone remembers the DD stores they had in Louisville, but I use to eat at the one on Taylorvsville Rd / Breck. Ln. . I though it was fantastic. Their donuts fresh out the back of the store are good eats.

You can't spit here in New England without hitting a Dunkin'. There's one on every corner.

PTUI! See? There's one right there.

No offense to anybody who likes them but you can really do better than Dunkin' when it comes to either coffee or donuts.

Are the donuts trans fat free?

Dunkin' Donuts is a virtual health-food paradise. Not a trans fat to be seen (more or less)

I grew up in Clarksville and for years we had one on HWY 131 a few doors down from the Keg. So it's not like its anything new coming. Their breakfast sandwiches are horrible. I do like the donut holes though, I can't remember if they still call them "Munchkins" or not.
Steve is right about the abundance of Dunkin Donuts in New England. They are literaly everywhere. Even in towns without a post office, they more than likely have a Dunkin Donut location. When I lived in the Mt. Washington Valley of northern New Hampshire, I recall at least three within a five mile radius.

Didn't the now Krispy Kreme at 5th and Market (around the corner for the Delta Lounge) used to be a DD?

When I used to do business on the North East, the people there craved DD coffee. It was wild to see them go out of their way to get a cup. I always thought they must put crack in the coffee the way people would flock to it.
