Help! Special events Nov 13-15?

by Casandra C » Tue Nov 10, 2009 5:52 pm

I've been scanning the boards and reading all the emails I still get from Louisville restaurants and wine folks, but try as I might I've been unable to find any kind of wine pairing or tasting or special event dinner going on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night. I'm returning for a brief visit from the vast food desert known as Daytona Beach; my husband and I desperately need an all-out, no holds barred, calorically-dense gustatory experience. I'm sure I wouldn't be disappointed to visit any of Louisville's fine establishments for dinner, but I'm dying for an even more special experience than that if possible, to make up for the last 5 months of continual disappointment. (The highlight of my Daytona dining experience is the relatively decent seafood but the most adventurous thing I've found here was snapper topped with sauteed figs--- good, admittedly, but you get the point.) Varanese, Lilly's, everyone is holding them right before or right after our visit...

If 610 is open, I'll bet they'd customize something for you.

Corbetts is always happy to tailor a menu for you or you can choose from our ala carte menu, our 5 course or our 9 course.

We've got a wine tasting on Thursday night, just a day earlier than you were looking for. Pretty nice lineup this month, including Cakebread Chardonnay. Here is the link to the event on our site: http://www.kegliquors.com/articles/event.html?id=4

Cassandra,
Come on out to Westport on Saturday night. We have a great band, Swing Shift. They play Sinatra, Bennett style music. Specials:
Carrot Ginger Soup

Pork Roulade- pork loin stuffed with garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and olives
sauce of white wine and butter.
rice and vegetables

Let me know if I can make a reservation for you.

Wiltshire On Market may be a fun spot for you this weekend. We have been open since the end of March and feature a locally inspired menu that changes every week. The restaurant is only open thursday-saturday evenings. The wine list features a great selection of wines by the glass - including some terrific dessert wines and we carry over a dozen interesting beers. The atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed...but you will surely feel that it is a special dining experience. Reservations are encouraged as there are only 8 tables. Call 589-5224 for more information.

Not sure about Cassandra but you can put me down for a party of three...seating about 30 min. before the tunes start would be great. I'll be in tomorrow eve. to pick up your gift to the pot luck, you can tell me what time our reservations are then.

Wow! You guys never fail to disappoint.

Hubby is at work right now, but I'll be sure to show him this post tomorrow and we'll go from there. So many tasty options... will be driving from Taylorsville so that may play a role as well.

When I lived in the Original Highlands on Christy Avenue I often liked to walk by Wiltshire's spot on Breckenridge and peer in the windows. Went to a couple great events catered by them... yummy.

I mean, if you want a full, all out wine-paired multi-course meal with cost not being a factor, I'd think you'd have to choose between Corbett's, 610 Magnolia, or the Oakroom.

Don't tempt me with all the great stuff AFTER we leave! There's fun stuff before, too, but we're in town for such a short time.
