Ideas and/or Suggestions

by Crystal Alvey » Mon Nov 02, 2009 1:53 am

What restaurants around Louisville have a nice private dining room that will seat 40-50 people at a minimum? We may need it in April. I’m newly engaged and one of the ideas we’ve had, since it will be a small wedding, is to just have a short (emphasis on short) ceremony followed by dinner. This would be with only close friends and family. I’m looking for ideas……

Wow Annemarie - thank you sooo much. That's a great start. If anyone has personal experiences with the private dining rooms that'd be great too!!!

Congratulations! AnneMarie mentioned Brownings, we also have Park Place that will hold up to 140, and can be set up however you wish. It is also at 401 e main st, though separate entrance from Brownings. I would love to show the space to you anytime.

I have to jump in and say I was looking for almost the exact same thing this past August. We were celebrating my parents' 40th wedding anniversary with Mass and a dinner. We choose Park Place, eventhough it wasn't the cheapest option, and our experience surpassed our expectations!!! The entire staff who helped us could not have been better! The food was absolutely amazing!! And I was very impressed with the special attention they gave to my Dad, b/c he has a number of dietary restrictions. Everyone commented on how wonderful it was, too. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!

Have been to several parties of that size at Limestone, and always wonderful.

Thanks Paula, Jessica and Andrew. Paula – I’m thinking we’ll have closer to 40 people. I may give you call once I get a list of possibilities together.

I'd check out Riverbend Winery downtown. They recently catered (with an open bar) an event I organized for 400 people. Their prices are very reasonable, the food was excellent, and their wine is quite good.

We didn't use their event space because it was too small (Up to around 150 people I believe) but I know they have one. Just make sure you deal with Carson, the owner, and not Katie. In our experience everyone there was absolutely fantastic except for Katie, who a had a distinct problem with returning phone calls. Regardless of that one little problem, I highly recommend them.

In my haste to answer your question, I completely skipped over why you needed the dining room...

Congratulations! :D

Thanks Paul. I checked out Riverbend online and the place looks pretty cool. I’ve left a message for Carson.

Paula – I actually had dinner at Brownings last night! I may give you a call soon. We need to make a decision soon on what kind of site we’d like. I stopped in a bridal store yesterday just to get a feel for it and was told it could take as much as 5 months for a dress to come in. Jeez!

Congratulations! We just had a birthday party (100 people) for my dad out at Wesport General Store. We took over the whole restaurant on Sunday afternoon and it was fantastic. I don't know if this fits your location/cuisine needs, but I can say the did a fantastic job.

Congratulations Crytal !!

The last time I went to see Will I commented to Cindy about how nice of a venue for a special event, also Brownings is always a favorite for me.

If you are looking for an venue with an outdoor setting or something close to the water I can be of help. We had several weddings here this past spring and summer, and of course reception immediately following in one of our private rooms or outside areas. Of course I can budget everything for you.
Thanks for choosing local !!

Thanks to this forum – we’ve found our ceremony & reception site!! It will be Captain’s Quarters. It was a tough decision but being able to have a short ceremony outside (with plan B’s for inclement weather also available) and on the water was the deciding factor. I really really really appreciate everyone’s responses. They were all very helpful. And I really really really appreciate those folks who took the time to meet with us.

So happy you were able to find a suitable local. I think Capt. Quarters will do a great job for you and you can't beat the view!
Personally, I think it's great that you're supporting one of LHB's advertisers as well.
Thank you for that! :D
