Best Root Beer.

For those of us who do not drink alcohol.

Bulldog Root Beer from Portland, OR. (I wish it were possible to get it in kegs this side of the Rockies)
Hanks Philadelphia Root Beer.
Goose Island Root Beer.

Rootbeer

by Pam G » Thu May 31, 2007 12:47 pm

I like Goose Island Root Beer. I have also made my own rootbeer before. It was pretty tasty. My husband does home brewing and since I do not like beer, I made rootbeer and red cream soda. That red cream soda can sure make a mess when bottles explode.

That's a good one! Saw it on tap somewhere locally recently. Can't remember where. Jazz Factory, possibly?

Sprecher's is on tap at Rich-O's. I stopped drinking it when I gave up HFCS though.

I had the BBC root beer lately. How does it compare to the others listed here? I liked it.

Not sure about Jazz Factory, but they do make floats with Sprechers at the custard joint across from Cheddars at Springhurst. I think the place is called Twister's or Twisty's or something similar.

BBC is the one I was going to mention! Also, there was a place in Wisconsin (near the Dells area) that I tried about a decade ago, but I have no clue if it is still there (I think it was spelled Oogley's).

As far as store bought brands, A & W is the best. I also like IBC.

Hmm. I'm diabetic, so I can't have the sugary stuff -- but I do like a good root beer. Anyone know of a good diet root beer?

IBC and A&W have diet, and they are pretty good! In fact, I like diet A&W better than the regular.

I'm not sure if it is available in this area, but Stewart's is excellent. And they have the best diet root beer I've ever had.

Yeah, they have it here. Lotsa Pasta has a large variety and they are already cold. You should be able to find them elsewhere.

Sprecher makes a pretty good diet root beer as well. I carry the bottles of the regular root beer, cream soda, and orange dream (think dreamcicle in a bottle) but can easily get the diet as well.

Sprecher also comes in kegs. I've sold a few of these to church groups, and even one to a graduation party last week (I'm sure those kids were bummed when they found out it was "root" beer)

Stewart's Diet Root Beer is excellent...doesn't even taste diet-y. The best root beer I've ever had, hands down, is the home-brewed stuff they sell at the Glendale Crossings festival. It's really strong, crisp, fresh-tasting stuff. Wish I could remember who made it.
