Dalat's Gateuux and Cafe

by James Natsis » Sat Oct 24, 2009 5:03 pm

Dalat's Gateaux and Cafe is located in the former Coco's bakery in a small plaza on 3rd St near the National Turnpike. Cocos was nothing to get exited about but they had a good apple and cheese streudel. I stopped by Dalat's this afternoon. They have been open for about 4 months. Well, let me say that these people know how to bake! Not only is their standard, French/US style of cakes and other pastries worthy of a stop, but their Vietnamese treats are really impressive. I can't even describe the stuff. All I would say is that if someone is interested in exotic, Vietnamese desserts, or just desserts that are made differently from what we are used to, then I would give them a try.......It is so cool to stumble on to places that throw you for a loop here in Louisville. And this is certainly one of them.

I'm so glad you mentioned them! I was there 2 wks ago after a meeting. I remembered them from World Fest. I had a "ho-ho", and yes, it was a fabulously delicious home-made version of the hostess cake. I think it was $1.50, but I sure would have paid more. Two people could easily share it (not that I did :) ).

Excellent! Thanks for the tip. I'll have to stop by there soon!
