My Old Kentucky Home Dinner Train

by Allison Williams » Sat Oct 24, 2009 9:45 am

Has anyone experienced the Dinner Train in Bardstown? I heard they had stopped doing excursions but just went to the website and it looks like it is in full operation. Since moving back to Louisville I have wanted to take my children on an experiental dining adventure and what would be better than taking two boys on train ride and fill their tummies at the same time. Can anyone fill me in on what to expect foodwise, the scenic route the train takes and if it is something that children have enjoyed?

Thanks!

Thanks Mark! I missed that thread while I was in Memphis at the time. I hate to be repetitious and bring something back up that has been exhausted. I tried to lurk and keep up on Hotbytes but sometimes it would be weeks before I would get a chance. I need to start using the forum search. :D

Welcome back, Allison.

I have ridden My Old Kentucky Home Dinner Train twice, once with my 90+ aunt and once with my two older granddaughters who were 7 and 9 at the time. Both times we took the Saturday lunch trip. At that time they did not have a children's menu option and salmon rather than cod was the fish option. My aunt and grandchildren both choice the salmon option as did I, while it didn't blow me away it was quite acceptable. And all three of my guests have expressed the interest in repeating the excursion again.

Does that help, Allison?
