Espresso Affogato at Derby City Espresso

by Matthew Landan » Wed May 30, 2007 7:46 am

We just learned about this delicious way to take your espresso. It's called an espresso affogato. It's a double ristretto shot pulled over a nice scoop of French Vanilla ice cream.
The espresso instantly begins to melt the ice cream making for a delicious treat. I think we're the only coffee shop in town serving them.
Stop in and try one out on a hot summer day!

Forgot about those - YUMMY

by Melissa Richards-Person » Wed May 30, 2007 1:03 pm

We first tried those at a place called Mojo Espresso in Wellington, New Zealand. (Wouldn't think that Wellington was a big coffee culture, but it was HUGE) My husband won't even drink Espresso and even he tried that - wow was it ever yummy! We'll have to stop in Matthew!

Ha ha that's funny because I leaned how to make these from a New Zealand coffee video (pod)cast that was filmed (I think) in Wellington!

I'm reminded of my mother pouring her super-strong coffee over homemade vanilla every summer. I had forgotten how tasty it was. It's the only sweet I ever saw her eat.

I'm almost scared to bring this up, but I was in Wellington in 2000, and a friend took me for espresso at ... Mojo!

Melissa, the picture does have to be on a web server - it won't show if it's just on your computer. You can put it on ours by clicking the "Upload picture" button at upper right, but the instructions are a little bit geeky. Give it a try, but if you can't figure it out, just E-mail me the picture at rgarr@louisvillehotbytes.com and I'll put it on for you!
