Halloween Topic

Guys, my wife just finished a class to learn about 'paranormal' activity. She enjoys the ghost hunter TV shows. In her class several restaurants were mentioned. She learned that the Come Back Inn is reputed to be haunted. No mention was made of the only place I've repeated heard has weird stuff happen, which is the former Parisian Pantry, current digs of Cafe 360. Neither of us has a believer or skeptical axe to grind one way or another, just open curiosity.
I told her the restaurant professionals on this forum could say for sure what places may warrant a visit by one of those paranormal investigation teams.
So what say you, folks? Where would you vote for a team to film a TV show and why?

Hmm...I've witnessed a lot of weird stuff at 360, especially in the wee hours of morning. None of it was paranormal mind you, but weird nevertheless! :D

I know I mentioned this a couple of years ago in a related thread, but over ten years ago I worked at Bearno's by the Bridge right after Anthony's by the Bridge closed, and they retained Madaam Zelda the fortune teller mid flight to the basement as well as the Squirrely Magic Tea Room Show upstairs (the magician was one of the owners of the building [maybe THE owner, but don't quote me on it] and magic was his hobby, along with his co-star great dane). The building was originally The Galt House before a fire that caused it to close and condemned most of the space. During the time that I worked there, the grand staircase (only accesible through the employee break room, but now barricaded) led to prohibitted floors and vacant rooms, and the basement reputedly stretches all the way to the river. I recall framed newpaper articles and ghost stories about a Captain Jack and a woman named Elizabeth with her young daughter, who were all trapped and burned to death in the fire. Other than unsubstantiated claims from coworkers, I don't know much else about it, but I'm sure it could be googled. I never did experience anything paranormal and I'm not sure I would have been a believer if I had, but I loved trespassing in the dark crevices of the upper levels. Fwiw, after about a year of working there, I finally let Madaam Zelda read my palms and it was a hoax, but the magic show was a riot.

This just confirms what I said (soemwhat comically), but more information isn't available as far I can find so far... I'll keep looking.

The Parisian Pantry story is modern, but it's been around for quite a few years. Supposedly a long-resident ghost became angry when a successor eatery's management removed a wall upstairs, changing the nature of the space. It's certainly true that a long string of successors quickly failed, earning the restaurant a reputation as a "haunted" location. However, without commenting on its quality or ambience, Cafe 360 does seem to have beaten the curse. I wonder if the owners put the wall back ...

I miss the Parisian Pantry. I have fond memories of going there with my French classes and club.

I sure saw a lot of creepy things when I was the chef who re-opened the Old Talbott Tavern in Bardstown after the fire. I have several pictures I took during the final stages of constuction with "orbs' and blurry images in them.

But the thing that makes my skin crawl to this day is the "Mystery of the Open Door".

One night I was the last person in the building and I had just went around making sure all of the doors were closed and locked and I was parked on the side facing the circle by the courthouse. The alarm was by the back door in the alley behind the buliding so you had to go out of that door. I walked down the alley to my truck and the door on the corner was open(see the picture).

The open door----> - >^^^^<- <----The open door

So I went back in and closed it, reset the alarm and came back out and it was open again!

This time I went across the street(We were staying at the Mclaine House)to get one of my co-workers to go through the buliding to see if there was someone in there. We found no one, reset the alarm the third time and walked out and once again that door was open!!!!
I was getting pretty freaked out by now so we called someone else to hold the door while we went through the place again and reset the alarm a fourth time.
Finally the last time nothing happened, but that tale now has been added to a long list of "ghost stories" about the place.

There have some people who have come to measure the paranormal activity in the place and have had various results....Footsteps and voices have been recorded.......

They could definatley do a spooky TV show about the Old Talbott Tavern. Too bad the food isn't worthy of mention anymore.......

There's a nightclub in Wilder, KY called Bobby Mackey's that is supposedly one of the most haunted places in America.

When economic times are at a low, belief in the supernatural goes up. Don't get me wrong, I love the stories and the sharing of eerie experiences (we all have a few good ones to share). I love Halloween time and all things spooky but I do get a bit irritated with those that make a living off of others under sham pretenses.
Paranormal studies was a serious hobby of mine for many years (I have a very large, private library on the subject) I have worked with many paranormal investigators. My remaining question is "Why is it that a paranormal investigator always finds a presence?" Did you ever hear of one going into a home/building/business and saying, 'Nope. Nothing here. I don't feel a thing."
Now, having said all that, I will add that there is a considerable amount of unexplainable stuff going on out there that is downright odd and puzzling.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to poop on everybody's good time with my skepticism. Shame on me ruining a good fireside ghost story round.

Meh, I think you raised a good point without telling anyone their ideas were right or wrong. I don't see any ruination.
