New Med restaurant at former Sage

by James Natsis » Sat Oct 10, 2009 4:09 pm

I'm not sure if anyone has posted on this yet. I noticed a sign at the former Sage Indian Restaurant in St Matthews stating that a new Mediterranean restaurant was coming soon--sounds good to me!

I wonder what they really mean by "Mediterranean"? Typically around town that seems to be a term of art for Near Eastern and Iranian/Persian eateries. Whatever! They open it, I'll try it out ...

I loved Babylon when it was in the South End and was a true Iraqi ethnic spot. I was disappointed when they moved to Brownsboro Road and became more of a generic Near Eastern eatery. Still, sad to see them disappear so fast.

Robin,
I feel the same way about Babylon. I worked at a church on South Third and Babylon was my go-to place when it was on Strawberry Lane. I went several times over on Brownsboro, but it wasn't the same. I miss Babylon ... :(
