I was venturing down Baxter today and strayed across Milano Cafe by Lentinis Ristorante. I had heard of the other two locations but not this so I stopped in. It is located slightly north and across Baxter from Wicks. Moe (owner?) and Marcello (uncle of Moe and chef) were talking over a cup of coffee as I strolled in and promptly tended to my inquiry. They are a true Italian (north and south), non-Americanized restorante that makes most everything in house including their bread, sauces and pasta. I was curious and indulged. I was not so hungry but the risotto con aspargi called me. It was a sizable plate/bowl served with their fresh house bread (soft crust, Italian with Balsamic vinegar, butter and olive oil). The main dish was very well balanced and made with their cream sauce, crisp asparagus, fresh parsley and risotto (not homemade but good) . $10.
Now their menu is consistent throughout the day, no differing lunch and dinner menus.
Regretfully I cannot find the menu online but here is an idea of costs:
1. Antipasti (Appetizers): Salads and such $6-$8 (5 choices)
2. Zuppe (Soups): $4-$6 (4 choices)
3. Fettuccine: $10 (3 choices)
4. Penne: $10-$12 (3 choices)
5. Risotto: $10-$12 (3 choices)
6. Gnocchi: $11 (2 choices)
7. Pasta al forno (baked pasta): $11 (3 choices)
8. Their specials: $14 (5 interesting choices)
9. Panani: $6 (6 choices)
10. Dolci (desserts): $5 (4 choices)
Tea, coffee and coca-cola drinks plus a full bar and a moderate wine list.
I hope someone else tries them and adds to this terse write-up.
I will indulge there again,
