When things are really messed up in French "Oh, la, la" turns to "Oh, la, la, la la!" ......Oh well, like the article says, there are so many "McDo" in France that it hardly seems foreign. What can we do? It is hard to harness the global cultural steamroller. All we can do is support creative venues and hope to conserve a certain level of quality and originalty in our shrinking world

If I remember right the Mc Donalds on Hunsinger Lane at Hikes Point, did have fresh cut fries. Guess I am telling my age.

I'm Louvrein' it! (apologies)

Seriously folks I don't understand the misguided antipathy towards Mickey D's. Why is it that the headline doesn't read: "Europe's largest corporate purveyor of generic airport food invades the Louvre"? Because Autogrill got the contract to run the food court at the Louvre mall. The Louvre is their second "somewhat higher end" food court in Paris but it's not as if McDonalds is going to compare poorly (qualitywise) to the generic crap that is 90% of Autogrill's business.

Don't get me wrong, if you have a few spare Euros then Autogrill is a great stock to buy. Very well managed company. But let's not act like some 3 star chef has been kicked out to make room for Big Macs. MCD will probably be the top grossing restaurant in that food court for reasons that we all know already. Now if Autogrill puts one of those dreadful O'Murphy's Irish Pubs in the Louvre, then I'm on board with the witch hunt.

I remember seeing a Burger King in Paris, several years ago ("La Maison du Whopper!")...

It's on the Champs Elysee- I was dragged there one time by a friend. Really really bad chic filet. C'est dommage.
