Sandra Lee's Kwanzaa Cake OMG

by Adam C » Thu Oct 01, 2009 12:34 pm

I am unsure if someone already posted this here but it's a must see. Someone told me that Bourdain ripped her for this at his appearance on Friday. I am not a fan of this semi-homemade junk and this "thing" is a prime example (among many) of what's wrong with the semi-homemade philosophy in addition, the "cake" (its more like a prank) is an absolute nightmare. Pastry chefs may want to cover their eyes... The horror!!!

Bourdain has a hatred for Food Network, with a special love for Rachel and Sandra.

The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

I saw it on TV one day and sat in stunned horror. Calling it a train wreck is an insult to trains.

Bourdain ripping on Sandra Lee's Kwanzaa cake is exactly the same as most people making fun of Sarah Palin. It's way too easy. Perhaps if he picked his targets at more skilled culinary artisans; I'd take any of his opinions to heart.

Even my computer was horrified, it stopped the video half way through and wouldn't budge. I thought Nicole Kidman killed the Stepford genre but I guess I was wrong.

Oh man, I love Sandra Lee. Her show is one of the funniest things on TV. The Kwanzaa cake may be her pièce de résistance.

Bourdain may dislike Food Network, but if it were for not for Food Network; I'd never have known his name. But, it's his thing. In addition, the only way he'll ever take Alton Brown is from my cold dead hands. :)

Agreed. Love Alton Brown. Of all of them he's the only one that teaches the hows and whys of cooking. The rest of them just seem like extreme caricatures to me. Bourdain included.

I agree with your thoughts on AB but what about Mario Batali? I think he does a great job with the how and whys. As for Bourdain, I wouldn't include him with other TV cooking hosts, as that's not really what his show is about.

Even though she pulls her pants up to her ears like an old man? That is one of the reasons I can't watch her show...it drives me nuts!

Piece is right but an "s" word might be more apprpriate.

I realize that the American home ccoked dinner is passe, we all have more involved lives. However this dish is unsuitable for a six year old, much less than someone I have invited to break bread. Uncooked pie filling and a doctored canister of icing is an open invitation for Sam & Ella to visit the house too. Has the lowest common denominator declined this much. I can get more watching public access programming than this. Fumnny?? It is down right pathetic programming, regardless of cultural decline. Sign of the Apocalypse perhaps, but a sad statement of society'status
