Envious

I am really envious of all you foodies who have a life! I have never heard of all these places that you all talk about as I never go anywhere. I have no life boo boo! You all seem to lead such exiting lives; what with the pre-Bourdain hook up etc. A lot of you seem to dislike 4SL; but my husband and I went there on June 20th for our wedding anniversary and had a great time. We stayed the night at a hotel within walking distance, actally we took a cycle car back - if that is the correct term. I guess we had such a good time eating and bar hopping because it reminds us of Chania Harbour where we met.

I work 60 hours a week (it used to be 72) and with two kids 17 and 9 that is all we seem to do. Maybe you could organize a Hotbytes offline to my place so I could meet some of you.

Alison - over worked, under paid and over here.

Hi Alison, I also feel overworked and underpaid. Being so far out in the country can make dinning out in Louisville a bit of a hassle not to mention often out of our budget. Ive found a way combine our love of food with our limited time and budget. When we know were going to have come into the city, either for a farmers market or to pick up supplies for the business,we will set aside time for lunch. This not only saves money on gas but lunch tends to be a far cheaper option when trying out new places. Our first couple of years here we hardly ever left the farm. We learned that the small price for a nice lunch out pays off great considering the mental health benefit you get out of it.

Were also looking forward to trying your gyros...one of the few in the area we have not tried.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Hi John, Yes, that makes a lot of sense. Now our Georgetown store is closed for the season, we may be able to have the odd lunch out. Where abouts is your farm?

Alison, overworked over here also. Now on my third night with a predicted quit time of 3 - 4 am. This is the last crazy weekend of the year for me. All the remaining weekends are reasonable. 15 weddings in three weeks was insane. Who booked all this? Oh yeah, me.

Leah, wow that is a bunch of late nights. I thought June was THE wedding month.

I was walking into work this morning with a staff member telling her about the wedding we attended this weekend - she commend that "September is the new June."

The mantra in the wedding biz is "October is the new June." October is a beautiful month and the weather is usually perfect. June is always busy, but it lost its status and "the wedding month" a long time ago.
