CJ hails Rick Adams' work at Captain's Quarters

by Robin Garr » Sat May 26, 2007 8:31 am

Marty's been to Captain's Quarters a couple of times and is much impressed with its trajectory under Chef Rick Adams (originally at L&N and very briefly La Rouge). He awards it 3 1/2 stars in a 567-word review; rightly so, I'd say. No question that Rick's arrival has kicked the place up a notch. I'm not sure if it was as lackluster in recent years as Marty implies - it had certainly improved since the late '90s. But I think we can all agree that with Rick's arrival and a new menu, it's now worth consideration as a serious dining destination as well as for the river view.

I certainly ate (and drank) there in that day, although I didn't start writing about this stuff until the 1980s, so my knowledge of the place was only as a happy consumer. The name Mahan rings a bell, though. Seems like the place went downhill for a few years after they left.
