TOKYO JAPANESE RESTAURANT

http://www.tokyosushis.com/

Just had a wonderful experience at Tokyo on Lime Kiln. The service, sushi, and atmosphere were perfect. The place is small and cozy and made me feel as I had left Louisville. Philla and Spicy Tuna Rolls, two salads, and fried rice were our selections. Both rolls were excellent with the spicy tuna being the best spicy tuna I have ever tasted.

If you haven't been I would add it to your to do list.

It's been our home away from home for a number of years. Roy and Jessica do a very nice job and are like extended family. Try the monkfish liver.....wow.

Foie gras of the sea, it is! I agree: Tokyo is a hidden jewel among local sushi spots.

They're very welcoming of children, bringing ours special "training" chopsticks (chopsticks with a rubber band wrapped around the bottom).

Also, although their sushi menu is very good, and we always order a couple of items from it, the really good stuff is found on their specials menu. They almost always have something that is either difficult to find or is an especially good value that night.

I need some of those.

If you are like "extended family", could you please ask them to put an "on/off" button on their web site for sound? After reading this thread, I went to their web page, and was blown out of my chair by the music at full volume! (a pet annoyance of mine - sorry)

I dig the music, but an off option would be nice.

We tried Tokyo for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it may very well be our new go-to spot for Sushi.

We found everything impeccably fresh and clean-tasting. The rice was expertly-prepared as well, although an expert or purist might argue that the cuts of fish on the nigiri were way too large.

Of course, I am a brutish layperson, and enjoyed everything very much, especially the striped bass, which i had never sampled before. The toro was also delicious.

Off the sushi menu, we also ordered the hamachi kama, something I order whenever available, and there's was some of the best I've had.

Although we live extremely close to Asahi, which I have also enjoyed in the past, barring extreme drunkenness, I seem myself making the short drive to Tokyo more often than not.

Next time if there's a bald guy at the sushi bar who acts like he knows everything, say hi because I eat there all the time.
