quick VK question

by John Hagan » Fri Sep 18, 2009 8:59 am

When looking at the online menu for Vietnam Kitchen I see a few items have up to three asterisks next to them. I know that one means "spicy" so should I assume that three is off the wall hot? Examples I see are,F9 Ga xao ca ry cay(green chicken curry),K8 Hu tieu Sate(spicy noodle w/sate ). I also took note of menu item A14, Sup mang cua, described as asparagus soup with crap meat. Obvious typo, but still funny.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Yes it means they are extra spicy.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

Though personal experience says that 1 star can be pretty darn close to 3 at times!

K8, for the win!

...but bring a bib! It's IMPOSSIBLE to not splash sauce on yourself w/ that dish.

I love F9, too!

Worth noting: As with many Asian restaurants, they may quietly tweak your dish on the mild side if you don't get pretty specific that you really do want it three-star hot.

Note that there is no k9 on the menu. Get it "canine".

Begin F8 with your meal and you'll be safe...

Oh, Kyle.....as bad a joke as that was, I couldn't help but laugh aloud.
