Acapulco's in Ramada Zorn Ave...very good!

by Linda C » Thu Sep 17, 2009 11:03 pm

We played a fundraiser last night and afterward decided to try Acapulco's. Good choice! First, the salsa seemed fresh and the chips were large and warm. Service was friendly and very attentive through the night. The burrito special was $6.99 and 3 of our group really enjoyed that. I had a veggie combo and it was tasty. The meal was much like an Ernesto's or El Tarasco experience, but the food seemed fresher and the sauces and cheeses seemed better overall. It appears that a group had leased the space here and are trying to make it a family and wallet friendly eatery. All 5 of us really enkoyed our dinner and will return.

Some friends stayed at that Ramada last month and I joined them for a quick meal there. I was pleasently surprised by the quality and tastiness of the food.

Where is this? I see Zorn Ave., but I can't place where the Ramada is. Is it almost to River Rd., in that office complex to the right as you approach RR?

Yeah, its right before you hit River Road.

I've heard good things about this place as well. A large group of med students went there about a week and a half ago, and they all seemed to love it.

That location opened as a Holiday Inn. I was a little hasty in my "review". They had a very good menu of many choices. I also think this would be a spot to take teams which play sports in the area. The room is cut into several areas which allow space for large groups and privacy for others. I hope they do well.

I drove past today and noticed the place has changed to El Nopal. That is what Louisville needed, another El Nopal.

I tried to go there the week before Derby (we had been at the Mellwood Arts Center setting up "Taste of Derby 2 Electric Boogaloo") and they were closed at 5 PM on a Friday *scratches head*....is it really operating? Looked deserted.

Was it El Nopal then? The signs looked brand new. New El Nopal road sign and now open banner.

Yeah, it was El Nopal. Maybe they were just switching over.

I ate at the Zorn El Nopal once. They didn't have any hot sauce. None. Zero. Not a drop. WTH?
