Suggestions for restaurant? Taking votes!

by Mandy R » Fri Sep 11, 2009 1:07 pm

I was told to make no plans for Saturday night...as my curiosity was about to make me go insane my boyfriend clued me in: after a very recent health scare followed by surgery (mainly the reason I have not been on here lately), my friends have banded together and planned a night out to celebrate my recovery. Their plan is to take me out to dinner and then go bowling (admittedly the one activity I always vote for but always get shot down as a group activity choice). Since I now have an influence on the restaurant we go to   through my boyfriend's "recollections" on places I want to try, I find myself drawing a blank on where I want to go for once. They are essentially recreating how we celebrate my birthday which I find incredibly sweet, but as I was totally dissatisfied with my usual birthday venue this last year I am taking suggestions/votes as to where we should go tomorrow night. As for parameters, the place should not be too exotic for a widely varied group, and the cost not too exorbitant (the original selection had main courses prices priced at around $15). I'm looking forward to seeing the responses this gets!

Glad you're feeling better, Mandy! I suggest Seviche (I know you've been there! :) ) or Palermo Viejo or L&N Wine Bar or Varanese or Bourbon's Bistro, just to pick off a few that I think fit your budget and good eats and excitement requirements.

I was contemplating Seviche as a choice since I do love it, though it my be a tricky sell to the others (that's why I indulge on here! :D ). As for the size of the group I am having my boyfriend do intel in response to that question as I am typing this. I imagine no more than five or six for that portion of the evening... (some may work past that time).

I'd second Bourbon's Bistro and add Baxter Station as a good option.

It's a beautifull time of the year for riverside dining: Captain's Quarters or Kingfish could be a good idea.

Mandy,

I'll leave the restaraunt suggestions to the folks who have their finger on that pulse...just wanted to say "welcome back". Hopefully your health scare is completely behind you now and you are on the road to a full recovery. Once again, welcome back.

The Restaurant.com sale is still on. (NINETY is the code) You could use a gift cert to reduce the overall $$.

Yeah I was wondering about that as well...
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Actually it was Allen Collins (Lynyrd Skynyrd)...but yeah, I'm getting ready to change up again. I was just using Buckwheat in honor of National Watermelon Day and never got around to changing it back

He is a kinda cool lookin' little feller though ain't he ?

Mojito, Havana Rumba, maybe a teppanyaki grill. I had a great meal at Mikato last night.

Palermo Viejo, Ramsi's or Corbett's are my best birthday choices. Have fun and enjoy your night wherever you go. Glad your back and feeling better. :D
