Bombay Grill Suggestions?

by Kim H » Sun Sep 06, 2009 6:44 pm

Ok, I've done the search on this site, but would like to get more direct responses, and were hoping for suggestions. We're thinking of going to Bombay Grill tonight, and have never been. We're more interested in trying some more Southern Indian specialties. We've eaten at DakShin, and love it, but have only had their buffet, so I wouldn't know what to order off the menu. Suggestions? We're not vegetarians, altho not entirely opposed to vegetarian dishes. TIA!

Sorry didn't reply last night... was actually feasting at Bombay Grill! :D

Here are some of my favorites:

Appetizers
vegetable samosas, bhel puri, or samosa chaat

Entrees
masala dosa or idli sambar (both South Indian specialties)

nav ratan korma, channa batura, chili paneer, tandoori chicken, seekh kebab, chicken makhni

Breads
naan or aloo paratha (breads)

Desserts
gulab jamun

Drinks
salty lassi or a Kingfisher (beer)... though I wish they'd carry Thums Up (Indian soft drink available at Patel Brothers Grocery by Shalimar)

Or if you still can't decide, you could always order a thali or ask your server for suggestions. I've never had a bad meal there so I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I'm not a fan of the buffet at any Indian restaurant (the dishes are generally milder and less flavorful to appeal to the masses) so I prefer to order off the menu.

Just writing this post is making me hungry... I might end up there again tonight. If you haven't tried Bombay Grill, I highly recommend it. It's by far the favorite Indian restaurant among Indians in Louisville.
