Scuddle's Seafood

by Bryan Shepherd » Fri Sep 04, 2009 5:49 pm

Went by Scuddle's for lunch today and was well pleased. They have your typical seafood grub, but it was freshly prepared and quite tasty. Lunch for 2 was $15 + tip.

The decor was light and airy and they were jamming to some Jimmy Buffet! (Can you really jam to Buffet)?

Anyway, it was/is worth the trip to give it a try.

Highlander Pointe Shopping Center off of the I64 Greenville exit in Indiana - on the left hand side 1/4 mile from the offramp - a front runner of shops in the center and agreed - well worth the trip. Very tropical motif and I think they have a long list of frozen non-alcs for the non-drinkers. Possibly booze now, too, if soemone doesn't stand to correct me? They were trying to get a liquor license last I knew.

We were excited when the sign went up, but before we could make a trip, at least 4 reputable people gave us negative reviews. My buddy's brother cooks there, and he told us that they really opened too soon and werent able to handle the amount of business they received. We will probably give it a try now that it has been open for a bit.

Unfortunately, I have heard personally from at least 10 people that they have been and would not go back. Infact, the comments run from too expensive $10 + for chicken tenders, and the fact that there is nothing not deep fried on the menu, to the fish was burnt. My husband and I went for lunch while we were getting A.J.'s Gyro Cafe ready, and the only good part of our lunch was the baguette. My fish planks were burnt and the kettle chips were burnt also. The chef came wandering out chewing gum and said "alright" (you have to be from London to know what I mean) Seriously, I don't want to knock a fellow restaurant owner, but why oh why did he not open a Japanese restaurant - apparently he has two in Louisville so they must be doing well. I even went so far as to warn the waitresses when they came in for a gyro what people were saying.

On a side note, We really love the new Aj's. My 2 1/2 year old eats some of our gyro meat along with his "chicky and fries." I would only like to see the amount of fish in the fish and chips be upped a bit...I know the fish market is going sky high though.

Mark, It is an 8oz portion, well, actually after saying that I have just been and weighed three of them, and they were 8.2, 7.5 and 6.9. So I guess they aren't all the same size. Maybe you had a smaller one when you came. Look at it this way, think of the calories you saved lol. You're right though, they do cost me a lot.
