Stone Brewing Owner at Ray's Sept. 19th

by Nimbus Couzin » Thu Sep 03, 2009 4:55 pm

This plan is still tentative. I'll update exact times once confirmed.

The same day as the big Stone/Dogfish event at Flanagan's, Stone Brewing Founder and Owner, Greg Koch, will be at Ray's Monkey House Coffeeshop from 2-3 pm. He's an old friend of mine, so this is going to be a casual beer event to give people a chance to chat with Greg, drink some fine Stone products (we always have Arrogant Bastard on tap and Stone IPA in bottles), and talk beer.

We're still trying to figure out if we can have a couple special brews on hand or some sort of goodies like pint glasses, not sure yet, but you'll at least get Greg!

Cheers.

p.s. This is during the "big game" which we may have on a small tv in back for you sports junkies.

Well, looks like Greg from Stone Brewing is getting a lot of press here, but good for him.

As his appearance here at Ray's Monkey House is shaping up, it is looking like 2:30-3:30pm now, and we're going to be giving out Stone glassware, signed by Greg (personally signed, so you can tell him what to scribble). Should be cool. They're telling us a "special" beer also, but we don't know what it is yet.

So if you're not glued to your tv (football) that afternoon, I guess you could start the day at Ray's and then head on over to Flanagan's for an all day party!!! Greg will be answering any and all tough beer related questions.....

Cheers...

Hey ya'll,

So here's the latest: Greg Koch (Stone Brewing co-Founder) will be here at Ray's Monkey House Coffeeshop from 2:30-3:30 on Sat, Sept 19th (this Sat!). Cool!!

Apparently, we've been allocated a full keg of the 13th Anniversary Ale from Stone (VERY rare). Should be arriving here tomorrow. Also, we'll have Stone Pint glasses to give out, and Greg will be signing 'em for you if you want.

Sounds like a party to me. Maybe even better than a football game.... try to make it if you can. Should be a good chance to talk to Greg in an informal setting. He's a very knowledgeable and interesting guy....

Cheers,

Are children welcome/allowed at this event?

As fate would have it, I have other important plans on Saturday and cannot make these events, although I've tried to do my best to get the word out.

Nimbus, can you tell Greg hello for me?

Can do. Sorry to hear you can't make it..

Cheers!

Oh! We'll have a keg of the Stone 13th Anniversary Ale on tap. Rare from what I hear. 9.5% ABV, etc, etc. Highly regarded brewski....

We're going to have pints of Stone 13th Anniversary Ale available on tap Saturday. Keg showed up today. Our sales rep was shocked that it was made available to us. Hey, nothing like being friends with the owner of the brewery, right? (brewers stick together - it is an extremely small circle compared to just about any other profession)

Whoo Hooo....

9.5 ABV, I haven't tried it, but the reviews of the bottled version have been very good.

So if you're not watching football, c'mon by from 2:30-3:30 Sat and have a pint with us.

Cheers!

Nimbus: We have two (2) kegs of the 09-09-09 Vertical Epic. One will be saved for Gravity Head in February. The other ... well, maybe we can work out a way to have some fun collaboratively (within the law). It's a Belgian Imperial Porter, I believe.

We just returned from Ray's - Greg Kohn and his associate Aaron were gracious and gregarious. We got a signed Stone Brewing DVD and a pint glass, and had some of that fabulous 13th Anniversary keg - it was amazing!

We're contemplating going on down to Flanagan's for the other festivities in a bit.

I waited there until 3:15 for Greg and figured he was going to no show. I just kept getting a, "he is running late but on his way". I finally gave up and left. What time did he get there?

I'd say, about 4:00. Right about the time we drained the last of our Stone 13th Anniversary Drafts...as they were pulling our Bell's 2H and Browning's She-Devil, there they were! 8)
