I've seen Red Robin advertised a lot lately. I know there is one off Brownsboro Road. Is it any good?

It is a decent burger not by far the best but good I go for the endless steak fries ;-) Wife likes the Royal RObin Burger because it has a fried egg on it. Overall a decent place not the best around though

Burgers are decent, particularly for a franchise chain. It's an odd mix, because it has a bar, implying an adult audience, but it has also reportedly become as much a destination for kiddos - in large, screaming packs - as Chuck E. Cheese.

Here's a link to my review from last August

This has no correlation but I do remember a Red Robin's Nest way back when... trackside in LaGrange, Kentucky. I think it just sparked a childhood memory. Otherwise I am no help. ;)

Red Robin and kids

by Suzi Bernert » Wed May 23, 2007 11:20 pm

Both my daughters like to go to Red Robin with their kids. They like the menu and RR is willing to substitute to please kid taste. We usually go for lunch when we visit. At the one we go to in NJ, the "games" in the lobby are always a winner, so the little ones are not disappointed (cheap toys, but they are happy!). I like the freckled Lemonaide, the burgers and the onion soup is pretty good. We have only been to the one here once, when they were training, so I don't know how kid friendly it is.

Au contraire, Monsieur. It seems to me that a place with large, screaming packs of kiddos is a perfect place for a bar. That's where I'd be.

Never been there, but if I want a gourmet burger, I go to WW Cousin's and get a 1/3 pounder with pepper jack cheese, tomatoes, onions, and sweet pepper relish. I love their BBQ beans too, and their fries are pretty good too.

I agree, pretty much, although I do feel that it's slipped a little in recent years ... food used to be great but is still very good. Counter service used to be first-rate but now consistently reminds me a little of McDonald's or Burger King, with too many sullen, mumbling kids who act like they'd much rather be doing just about anything else in the world than taking your order.

Hey, I think the last time I was in there, LA that is, Robins Nest was a bakery.

I believe it was across the street from that Champions BBQ.

Red Robin was very very good when they first opened. Over Christmas, we had the best gingerbread shakes there - just wonderful. Unfortunately, like so many other places, it seems to have gone downhill now that the "bloom is off the rose." My parents mentioned having a bad experience a couple months ago, and hubby and I had a problem the last time we were there as well. Bah. I hope all their ducks realigned - the burger w/ a fried egg atop was one of the neatest (and tastiest) mad moos I'd had in ages.

Hmm i doubt Red Robin is the originator of this...but i've never seen it on a menu before. I like the sound of it. I think almost anything is enhanced by adding an egg. Mmmm pizza with eggs cracked right on top...it doesnt get any better.

I had lunch there over the winter and the burger I got was very good--some type of an Hawaiian burger. Loved the steak fries! It was a fun atmosphere and I would go back again.

Primani Brothers in Pittsburgh has a sandwich called the Pittsburger that has a fried egg on top. Of course it comes with fries and slaw on it too. Needless to say, it is second only to their pastrami sandwich.
